Product Information
2-Methyl-N-phenylaniline is an organic solvent that has a wide range of applications. It can be used as a neutralizing agent and as a derivatizing reagent. 2-Methyl-N-phenylaniline reacts with ketones in the presence of acid to form benzoic acid derivatives. This reaction is thermosensitive, and it requires refluxing at high temperatures. 2-Methyl-N-phenylaniline can be used to detect benzoic acid in the presence of fluoran, which forms a red color when heated with this compound. 2-Methyl-N-phenylaniline has also been shown to lower the melting point of sulfuric acid, increasing its volatility and reactivity.
