Product Information
Trifluoromethoxy-methane is a fluorinated gas that has been used as a screening agent for the detection of fluorine. It has also been used to study the thermal and x-ray photoemission properties of fluorine atoms. Trifluoromethoxy-methane can be formed by the reaction of hydrogen fluoride and perfluoro(chloro)methane. The electron affinity of trifluoromethoxy-methane is higher than that of methane, which may be due to the presence of a fluorine atom in its structure.
