Methanol-od is a drug that is used to treat infectious diseases. It acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, which is involved in the production of glucose from glycolysis. Methanol-od can be used for the treatment of solid tumours, such as those associated with infectious diseases. The mechanism of action involves hydrogen bonding between a hydroxyl group and an oxygen atom on the molecule, which leads to the creation of an intermolecular hydrogen bond. This process is also accompanied by a reaction mechanism in which a dibutyltin oxide molecule reacts with a hydroxyl group on methalol-od to form an intermediate compound that reacts with another dibutyltin oxide molecule to form 2 molecules of water vapor. Methanol-od has been shown to cause congestive heart failure in rats and mice due to its effects on hydrogen bonds, specifically those involving water vapor.
