3-Methoxy-4-ethoxybenzonitrile is a reagent that can be used in organic chemistry. It is a copper chelating agent that has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells in vitro. The mechanism of action is not yet known but may involve DNA damage and inhibition of protein synthesis. 3-Methoxy-4-ethoxybenzonitrile has also been shown to have antiproliferative effects on human breast cancer cells in vitro and murine prostate cancer cells.
