Manganese perchlorate is a coordination complex with antimicrobial activity. It is able to bind to the amino acid serine, which is found in cells of the liver and cervical cancer. Manganese perchlorate has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human liver cells, as well as cervical cancer cells. In addition, it has been shown to have an effect on intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. This coordination complex also interacts with aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrogen atoms in biological systems. Manganese perchlorate can be reduced by redox potential or carbonyl groups such as those found in aromatic hydrocarbons or ketones.
