Description:

1-Methyl-1H-benzimidazole-5-carboxylic acid (1MBZC) is an imidazole derivative. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of histamine H1 receptors in the guinea pig trachea. 1MBZC inhibits inflammation by preventing the release of histamine at the site of injury. This drug also suppresses allergic reactions by inhibiting histamine release and stabilizing mast cells. 1MBZC has also been shown to have strong anti-inflammatory properties, which are caused by its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
