Product Information
4-Methyl-5-phenyl-1'-pyrazole is a pyrazole that has been shown to be able to remove the pollutants benzene, toluene, and xylene from water. It has been found that 4-methyl-5-phenyl-1'-pyrazole binds to these pollutants through coordination with the hydroxyl group on the ring. This binding of 4-methyl-5-phenyl-1'-pyrazole causes a shift in the hydration sphere and an increase in polarity, which increases its interaction with water molecules. The polar nature of this compound also allows it to react with other polar compounds such as nitrate ions, leading to their removal from water. 4-Methyl-5 phenyl pyrazole is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone or ethanol.
