Methyl 4-oxothiane-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of decarboxylation products. It can also be used as a reagent for the synthesis of esters, ethers, and phosphorus compounds. The major use of this compound is in the production of methyl 3-hydroxybenzoate, which is used in the manufacture of some pharmaceutical drugs. Methyl 4-oxothiane-3-carboxylate can also be used for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine phosphate (DHP) from uracil.
