Description:
Methane trisulfonic acid is a weak acid catalyst that can be used in the production of fluorinated compounds. It is often used with silver ions to catalyze the reaction in alkaline conditions. Methane trisulfonic acid can also be used as a heterogeneous catalyst when mixed with copper and organic solvents. The product is considered to be stable and does not require any special storage conditions.
Methane trisulfonic acid reacts with fatty acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and diluents to produce sulfonates and carboxylates. This product is also recyclable and can be regenerated by reacting it with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate solution.
