Methyl 2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate is an organic compound that is a derivative of benzene. It has been shown to be a calcium channel activator by inhibiting the inactivation of voltage-dependent calcium channels in mouse brain tissue. This can lead to increased insulinotropic activity and the release of neurotransmitters such as glutamate and gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA). The chemical structure of Methyl 2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate is composed of two isomers: "cis" and "trans". The cis isomer has been found to have a higher affinity for benzene than the trans isomer. Methyl 2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate's molecular weight was determined by NMR spectra to be 172.2 g/mol.
