(1S,2S)-(+)-N-Methylpseudoephedrine is an alkaloid that is a structural analog of ephedrine and methylephedrine. It has been used in the treatment of coughs, colds, headache, and hay fever. The pharmacokinetic properties of (1S,2S)-(+)-N-Methylpseudoephedrine have been studied in humans. The half-life of this drug is around 2 hours and its bioavailability is about 80%. This drug has also been used as a matrix effect for chromatographic analysis. (1S,2S)-(+)-N-Methylpseudoephedrine can interact with other drugs such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants to cause hypertensive crisis.
