Description

Maleic acid is an organic compound that is a dicarboxylic acid. It is frequently used as a reagent in organic synthesis. Maleic acid has been shown to inhibit the activity of x-ray diffraction data, neuronal death, and the rate constant for polymerase chain reaction. This compound also has effects on infectious diseases and drug interactions. Maleic acid has been shown to be an active inhibitor for human DNA polymerase alpha and beta. The coordination geometry of maleic acid has been determined using X-ray diffraction data and found to be square pyramidal with four hydrogen bonds from water molecules.
