2-Methoxy-5-methyl-4-(4-methyl-2-nitrophenyl)azo)benzenediazonium tetrachlorozincate is a diazonium salt that has been shown to be a potent agonist at the estrogen receptor. It is used as a diagnostic for trichomonas vaginalis, brain cells, and cannabis use. 2mMDBZDZCAT has been shown to bind to the estrogen receptor alpha and beta subtypes in rat brain cells. In addition, it also binds to the human myeloid leukemia cell line HL60 and rat kidney carcinoma cell lines RK13 and PC3. This drug can inhibit protein synthesis by acting as an enzyme substrate molecule or by inhibition of DNA replication. 2mMDBZDZCAT is nonmutagenic with low energy radiation in cultured mammalian cells and is not toxic to cell cultures at concentrations up to 10 μM.
