Product Information
7-Methoxyisochroman-4-one is a pyridine derivative that can be used as an efficient and selective oxidizing agent for the functionalization of alkynes. It is also capable of catalyzing the oxidation of alkynes to produce pyridine n-oxide. 7-Methoxyisochroman-4-one has been shown to react with alkynes in a reaction that is compatible with tertiary alcohols, amines, ethers, and esters. This reaction proceeds by oxidative addition followed by reductive elimination. The resulting products are substituted with methoxy groups. 7-Methoxyisochroman-4-one has also been shown to functionize amides and nitriles with high efficiency by using a similar mechanism to other oxidizing agents like potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide.
