Description

2-Methyl-4-phenyl-2-butanol is an industrial chemical that is used as a solvent and a polymerization initiator. It has been shown to be safe for use in detergent compositions for human use, although there are no validated data on its effects on the skin. 2-Methyl-4-phenyl-2-butanol has been shown to have nucleophilic attack properties, which make it useful in the manufacture of polymers. It also has antiinflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of isovaleric acid by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis.
