R-(-)-Manidipine is a chiral compound that is metabolized in the body to form two enantiomers, (+)- and (-)-manidipine. The pharmacokinetic study of R-(-)-Manidipine was conducted by comparing the plasma concentrations of the racemic mixture with those of the individual enantiomers. The diastereomeric ratios were determined by analyzing plasma samples using a mass spectrometer and reaction monitoring. The pharmacokinetic study showed that both enantiomers have antihypertensive activity, but (-)-manidipine has higher potency than (+)-manidipine.
