Description

3-Methoxy-N-phenylbenzamide is an amide that has inhibitory activities against cancer. It binds to copper and inhibits the activity of the copper-dependent enzymes, such as DNA topoisomerase II, ribonucleotide reductase, RNA polymerase II, and DNA polymerases. 3-Methoxy-N-phenylbenzamide also inhibits cellular proliferation by binding to anilines in the cell membrane and blocking a reaction mechanism that is required for cell growth. This drug has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. 3-Methoxy-N-phenylbenzamide is selective for kinases over other protein types due to its regiospecificity.
