Description:
Triflic acid is a trifluoromethyl acid that is used in organic chemistry as an activator for certain types of chemical reactions. It is also used as a reagent in the Friedel-Crafts reaction and other organic syntheses. Triflic acid can be prepared by the oxidation of trifluoroacetic acid with hydrogen peroxide or by the reaction of diazirine with phosphorus pentachloride. It is a colorless liquid with a strong odor.
