Methyl 3-[[[2-[(diaminomethylene]amino-4-thiazolyl]methyl]-thio]propionimidate (MATE) is a metabolite of the soil bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. MATE's structure was determined through structural studies and mass spectrometric analysis. It has been shown that this compound is resistant to radiation and oxidation products. In addition, it was found to be insoluble in water and precipitates as an arsenical salt when exposed to sodium arsenite. The toxicity of MATE is still unknown.
