N-Methyl duloxetine is a chiral enantiomer of duloxetine, which is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It has the same therapeutic indications as duloxetine, including major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic neuropathy pain, and fibromyalgia. The crystalline form of N-methyl duloxetine hydrochloride is water soluble and has no solubility in organic solvents. This compound can be obtained as various polymorphs with different physical properties. The most common crystalline form is a white powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in propanamine and benzoate.
