Product Information
- (8b)-6-Methyl-8-[(methylthio)methyl]ergoline
6-Methyl pergolide is a dopaminergic drug with activating properties. It is a mesylate salt of 6-methyl-pergolide, which is an agonist at dopaminergic receptors. The affinity of 6-methyl pergolide for the alpha-adrenergic receptors and its ability to lower prolactin levels are also important pharmacological characteristics.
6-Methyl pergolide has been shown to have similar effects on serotonin and dopamine as other dopaminergic drugs, such as spiperone and pergolide mesylate. It has been used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, but it has been withdrawn from the market due to adverse effects such as heart valve damage and priapism.
