N-Methyl-2-nitroaniline is a synthetic compound that can be used as a solvent for amines and other solutes. It has significant interactions with methanol and sodium sulfide. N-Methyl-2-nitroaniline has been shown to be effective in the treatment of trichomonas vaginalis. It binds with the amide group, which is located on the surface of the parasite's cytoplasmic membrane, causing it to lose its cilia and die due to lack of nutrition. N-Methyl-2-nitroaniline is also used in analytical chemistry, where it acts as a reagent for the analysis of organic compounds.
