Description:
3-Methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ) is a carcinogen that causes cancer in rats. It has been shown to cause intestinal and liver cancer in rats, as well as bladder and pancreatic cancers in mice. The mechanism of action for IQ is not known but it has been shown to be an acidic compound and can be metabolized by the liver.
