4-Methyl-N1-(3-phenylpropyl)benzene-1,2-diamine is a section of a series of compounds that have been shown to attenuate the effects of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin. It has an inhibitory effect on TNF-α production in vitro and in vivo. 4MPB has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on locomotor activity in mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of TNF-α from peripheral tissues.
