Milnacipran hydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the class of selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic pain, depression, and fibromyalgia. Milnacipran hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 activity, which may result in an increased risk of adverse effects when co-administered with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The drug also inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme and may lead to gastrointestinal problems. This drug has also been shown to have cardiac effects as well as side effects that are related to its receptor activity.
