Description

Mono[2-(carboxymethyl)hexyl] phthalate is a drug that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on insulin sensitivity in women. It also inhibits the production of oxidative DNA and the activity of oxidative enzymes in urine samples. Mono[2-(carboxymethyl)hexyl] phthalate is metabolized by hydroxylation to mono[3-(carboxypropyl)hexyl] phthalate, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. The hydroxy group on the monoester moiety can be cleaved by carboxylesterases to form an ester-linked alcohol and a carboxylic acid. This drug also interacts with other drugs, such as statins and beta blockers, with unknown consequences.
