Product Information

Name:
4-Methylphenyltrifluoroboric acid potassium salt
Synonyms:
  • POTASSIUM (4-METHYLPHENYL)TRIFLUOROBORATE
  • p-Tolyltrifluoroboric acid potassium salt
  • Potassium p-Tolyltrifluoroborate
Description:

4-Methylphenyltrifluoroboric acid potassium salt (4MPBF) is a boronate ester that acts as a catalyst. It is used in cross-coupling reactions to form new compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The 4MPBF catalyst has been shown to be more effective than other boronates in regiospecific reactions because it can be easily removed from the reaction system by filtration or washing with water. In addition, this compound has been shown to be functional due to its ability to perform catalytic transformations on biomolecules. This compound is also able to function as a mesylate or formyl group donor and acceptor and can participate in desymmetrization and thiocyanation reactions. The 4MPBF catalyst can also be recycled for use over and over again, making it an environmentally friendly option.
