Methyl-2-trans-4-cis-decadienoate is a mixture of isomers. It is an insect pheromone that attracts coleoptera and other insects to its source. The isomeric mixture is synthesized from coccinella, peroxides, and fatty acids. Methyl-2-trans-4-cis-decadienoate has been shown to be an attractant for populations of insects and can be used in monitoring programs. Methyl 2,4 trans 4 cis decadienoate can be extracted using microextraction with a fatty acid ester such as hexane or heptane.
