Description

Monomethyl adipate is a bicyclic heterocyclic compound containing a monomethyl group. It is an organic solvent and an intramolecular hydrogen donor. In the presence of copper chloride, it undergoes a series of reactions that involve the formation of hydroxyl ions and hydrogen fluoride. Monomethyl adipate has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This inhibition may be due to its ability to act as a growth factor for some cells or its ability to cause mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis.
