Description

Mucochloric acid is an acidic, water-soluble, polymeric matrix that is used as a treatment for inflammatory bowel disease. This drug has the ability to form a protective layer on the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, which suppresses inflammation and prevents ulceration. Mucochloric acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in tissue culture experiments, which may be due to its hydroxyl group and acidic properties. This drug is also used as a substrate molecule in tissue culture experiments.
