Product Information

Name:
3-Methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride
Synonyms:
  • m-Anisolesulphonyl chloride
  • 2-Methoxybenzene sulfonyl chloride
  • 3-Methoxybenzenesulfonyl Chloride
Description:

3-Methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme protein kinase. It has been shown to have a protective effect against scopolamine-induced amnesia in mice, suggesting that it may be useful for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. 3-Methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride binds to the active site of the enzyme, where it disrupts its structure and prevents it from binding to ATP. This inhibition leads to reduced phosphorylation and deactivation of the enzyme. The cytotoxic effects of 3-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride are due to its ability to inhibit dehydrogenases and other enzymes involved in cellular respiration.
