Product Information
- Benzenecarboximidamide, 2-Methoxy-
2-Methoxybenzamidine hydrochloride is a molecule that inhibits the growth of gram-negative bacteria. It is bactericidal and has been shown to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. 2-Methoxybenzamidine hydrochloride does not bind to DNA, but it does inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the hepg2 cell line. This drug is an analog of benzyl amine, where the benzyl group has been replaced with a trifluoromethyl group. The inhibition of protein synthesis may be due to the steric hindrance caused by this larger group on the enzyme hepg2 cell line.
