2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)acetamidine is a pyrimidine derivative that inhibits the synthesis of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by inhibiting the enzyme GABA aminotransferase. 2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)acetamidine has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in endometrial cancer cells. This drug also inhibits hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, which is involved in the conversion of progesterone into estrone. Progesterone is an important hormone in the reproductive system, and its production can be inhibited by 2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)acetamidine, causing endometriosis.
