1-(1-Methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-piperazine is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of piperazines. It is a basic protein, and has been shown to be safe in animal models. 1-(1-Methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-piperazine has been shown to have a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography profile that is similar to calcitonin. This drug has also been shown to have therapeutic effects on trifluoroacetic acid induced bone loss in mice, and was found to be dose dependent. Low molecular weight compounds such as 1-(1-methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-piperazine are able to cross the blood brain barrier more easily than larger molecules and can therefore be used for intranasal administration.
