4,4'-Methylenebis-(2,6-diisopropylaniline) is a magnetic monomer with a coordination site. It can be synthesized by reacting two equivalents of 2,6-diisopropylaniline with one equivalent of aluminum chloride in the presence of ethylene. The resulting compound has proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and fluoro resonance spectroscopy properties. 4,4'-Methylenebis-(2,6-diisopropylaniline) can be used as a ligand to form a cyclic complex. This complex has been shown to have coordination properties and can be used to study the effects of fluorine on coordination sites.
