Product Information

Name:
Methyl 3-methoxyphenylacetate
Synonyms:
  • Methyl 2-(3-methoxyphenyl)acetate
Description:

Methyl 3-methoxyphenylacetate is an active analogue of malonate. It is a ligand for the estrogen receptor, which modulates the activity of this receptor by binding to it and activating it. The methyl group in M3MPA has been shown to increase the efficiency of the method and make it more selective. M3MPA is a competitive inhibitor of nitrate, which is used as a chemoenzymatic oxidant in organic synthesis. This compound also binds to markers that are expressed at high levels in cells infected with human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
