Description

2-Methyl-5-amino-2H-tetrazole is a reactive compound that undergoes metathesis reactions with alkali metal hydroxides to form tetrazoles. This compound is typically used as a reagent in the synthesis of organic compounds, such as nitriles and amines. The crystal x-ray diffraction analysis of 2-methyl-5-amino-2H-tetrazole reveals an orthorhombic crystal system with space group P212121. The structure consists of a central N atom, surrounded by four methyl groups and six hydrogen atoms.

The UV irradiation of 2-methyl-5-amino-2H tetrazole results in the formation of cyanamide and the absorption spectrum peaks at 225 nm.
