It has been shown to inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from infecting cells and may have potential as a drug for HIV/AIDS treatment. 2-Methoxy-4-methyl-6-(methylamino)-1,3,5-triazine also serves as a potent inhibitor of the activity of carbon nanotubes and ruthenium complexes. The solubility data for this compound in water and organic solvents indicates that it is soluble in n-dimethyl formamide and ethyl formate but insoluble in deionized water or monocarboxylic acid.
