4-Morpholin-4-yl-phenylboronic acid (4MPB) is a squaramide that was synthesized for the treatment of tuberculosis. It inhibits the growth of mycobacteria by binding to the mycolic acid cell wall and preventing synthesis of proteins necessary for cell division. 4MPB has been shown to be heat resistant and functional as a boron donor in organic synthesis. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
