1-Methylamino-4-bromo anthraquinone is an organic compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of methanol, hydrogen peroxide, and hypophosphite. This product is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of brominating agents. The main impurities of this product are 2-methoxyethanol and 2-methoxyethyl acetate. The presence of these impurities can reduce the reaction yield. A reaction time of about 24 hours at a temperature range of about 25 to 30 degrees Celsius leads to a product yield of about 90%. 1-Methylamino-4-bromo anthraquinone has been shown to be environmentally safe and recyclable.
