- Boronic acid, B-(2-methoxy-3-quinolinyl)-
2-Methoxyquinoline-3-boronic acid (2MQBA) is a quinoline derivative that is an antiproliferative agent with primary culture and in vivo anti-cancer activities. 2MQBA inhibits the growth of human cancer cells, including those of solid tumors. It also has antitumor activity in vivo, and is more potent than other antiproliferative agents, such as doxorubicin or vincristine. 2MQBA inhibits cell proliferation by interfering with protein synthesis and DNA replication. This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human fibroblast cells and MFC-7 cancer cells in vitro. In addition, it has been found to be effective at reducing tumor size in a xenograft mouse model for breast cancer.
