Description:
Methyl 2-bromomethyl-4-methoxybenzoate is a benzothiophene that is metabolized to an active form by oxidation and methylation. It has been shown to be a noncompetitive, partial agonist at the benzodiazepine site of the GABAA receptor. Methyl 2-bromomethyl-4-methoxybenzoate has also been shown to have antiinflammatory effects in rats and mice.
