Methyl thiazole-5-carboxylate is a chiral compound that can be synthesized by the cross-coupling reaction of methyl 2-amino-3-methylthiophene-4-carboxylate and 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene palladium dichloride. This compound has been shown to react with amythiamicin in an intramolecular cross-coupling reaction to form the corresponding sulfinyl imine. Methyl thiazole-5-carboxylate selectively reacts with pyridine rings in an amide formation.
