N-Methylcyclopropylamine is a pesticide that inhibits the activity of the proteasome. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of both types of proteasomes, with IC50 values of 1.2 and 2.1 μM, respectively. N-Methylcyclopropylamine also inhibits the deubiquitinating enzyme UbcH7 and has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro. The chlorine atom in this molecule is stable because it is not bonded to any hydrogen atoms. This makes it a suitable candidate for analytical methods using mass spectrometry that rely on the halogen signal from chlorine (e.g., isotopic analysis).
