Description:

1-Methylpyrrole-2-acetic acid (1MPAA) is a colorless liquid that is miscible with water and organic solvents. It is hydrolyzed in alkaline condition to produce methyl pyrrole, which can be used to synthesize other compounds. 1MPAA has been shown to react with tolmetin in the presence of pyridine at high yield. The compound has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
