Description

Mono[tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane]maleate is a compound that can be used as an optical sensor for the detection of bacterial strains. It has been shown to bind to the cells of the lacrimal gland and to inhibit the growth of bacteria in sephadex g-100. This drug also inhibits the production of growth factors, such as collagen, that are important for tissue repair. Mono[tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane]maleate binds to calcium ions that are required for cell division in a manner similar to other antibiotics. In addition, this drug has been found to inhibit phagocytosis by internodal cells, which leads to its use as a pharmaceutical preparation.
