Description:
4-(4-Methyl-piperazin-1-ylmethyl)phenylamine is an anti-leukemic drug that is a benzamide derivative. It is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme histone deacetylase, which causes increased expression of genes involved in cell growth and differentiation. 4-(4-Methyl-piperazin-1-ylmethyl)phenylamine has been shown to inhibit the growth of leukemic cells by blocking the function of the protein tyrosine kinases, such as imatinib and amides.
