1-Methyl-3-Phenyl-1H-Pyrazole-4-Carbaldehyde (1MPPC) is a molecule that has been synthesized and studied. It has been shown to have antibacterial properties, which are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit the growth of Gram negative bacteria. The inhibition of bacterial growth is thought to be due to the 1MPPC's ability to inhibit the synthesis of DNA by phosphorylating the nucleotide precursor pool, decreasing the availability of ATP. 1MPPC has also been shown to react with hexavalent chromium, which causes it to undergo oxidation and form a hexavalent chromium complex. This reaction is thermodynamically favored at lower temperatures.
