Product Information
- (4-Methylnaphthalen-1-yl)methanol
(1-Methylnaphthalen-4-yl)methanol is a chemical that can be produced from nitrobenzene by dioxygenation. It is used as a precursor for the production of naphthalenes and has been shown to have biodegradation properties. (1-Methylnaphthalen-4-yl)methanol can be used in the conversion of naphthalenes into aromatic ring compounds. This process involves the cleavage of the methyl group, catalyzed by methoxy groups on the aromatic ring, and formation of a new bond with oxygen. The conversion of nitrobenzene to (1-methylnaphthalen-4-yl)methanol is catalysed by iron oxide. Recombinant strains are often used in this process due to their increased efficiency and stability over nonrecombinant strains.
