5-Methyltryptamine hydrochloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of amines. It is an agonist for 5-HT2 receptors. The optimum pH for this compound is between 4 and 7.5, with a ph of 6 being optimal. It has been shown to stimulate the release of acetylcholine and dopamine in the brain, as well as having effects on glomerulosa cells in the adrenal gland. 5-Methyltryptamine hydrochloride also has been shown to be a specific agonist at monoaminergic receptors in various model systems, including epidermal growth factor receptor binding and growth factor activation.
